NICHE is a statewide organization dedicated to supporting homeschooling families and promoting home educating in Iowa.

NICHE pursues these goals by providing:
- an informative website
- a toll-free number & an email address for homeschool questions
- a variety of homeschool publications, like Homeschool Iowa magazine
- a statewide graduation service
- an annual conference with nationally-known speakers and Iowa’s largest homeschool curriculum hall
- a team of liaisons monitoring legislation at the Iowa Statehouse
- an annual Homeschool Day at the Capitol event
- a number of support tools & events for homeschool group leaders
- a referral service for families seeking supervising teachers or local support groups
- a homeschool national honor society,
- and a regular commitment to support national homeschool research
